Issues: Drugs

Lets be honest here. The trafficking of drugs in and out of our country is not controlled very well. That does not mean that we do not have many great men and women trying every day to control it and risking their lives in the process.

The problem is that we as a nation are not funding and providing the proper resources needed to control it. So while most of our elected representatives spend hundreds of billions on special interest paybacks every year, we see our fight to control drug trafficking seriously underfunded. We sit back and accept and forgive politicians for spending millions on vacations and private flights, but don't say much about how we could have used those funds to do so much for those fighting the drug wars on our borders and in our cities. We as a nation need to check our priorities!

As your representative, I will sponsor and push legislation that will both better fund such programs with tax revenues already paid into the system and hold our federal government accountable in enforcing the current laws in the books today that they are not enforcing. We simply need to do a much better job and I will publicly lobby very hard, even as a freshman Congressman, to do it.
